No. LSS001 is designed specifically for beginners. We start from the fundamentals and build up step by step teaching you everything you need step by step.

Our Beginner Course is taught in person at our Fortitude Valley studio in Brisbane in small classes. We also offer a 1:1 online version for students outside of Brisbane - please email us to find out more if needed.

No - LSS001 focuses on the fundamentals of music production required to write any genre. We then help you apply them 1:1 in your own chosen style or genre as you build up your own original track. We work across a wide range of styles in our day-to-day studio work and use examples from various genres throughout the course.

We recommend students have their own laptop and headphones. You’ll be learning using Ableton Live, and we provide student discount codes to purchase Ableton Live Intro at $112 (one time purchase). A limited number of laptops and headphones are also available for student use if you don’t have your own - just let us know if you need one reserved.

We understand that schedules change. If you can’t attend a session, let us know ahead of time and we’ll aim to move you into another class so you don’t miss out. If that’s not possible, we also offer 1-on-1 make-up sessions to help you stay on track.

You’ll receive the full course guide and next steps. You can then choose to book a 1-on-1 call with an LSS tutor, or attend an upcoming Open Day if you’d like to come and meet us and visit the studio in-person.

Why did we create this course?

Starting out in music production can feel daunting - I’ve been there. With endless information online and no clear way to know what actually matters, it’s easy to get stuck in the early stages of writing music.
When I was first starting out over 14 years ago, I was lucky enough to have a good friend, Mani, who’s now a fellow tutor at LSS, to help guide me through those early years. Not everyone has someone like that in their corner.
After spending years figuring things out on my own, I realised it didn’t need to be that complicated — if I’d known exactly what to focus on, the path would have been far clearer from the beginning and I would have been finishing complete songs much much sooner!
That’s exactly why LSS001 exists.
To demystify the process and offer a clear, supportive, and structured path for beginners, so you can focus on learning the fundamentals, building confidence, and creating your own original music from scratch.
